Psychological Unity
.
Without Mysticism

Let us consider the indications of unity in the psychological realm.

  • Unity of consciousness
  • Universals of aesthetics, reason and conscience
  • Continuity of personal identity
  • Versatility and resilience of the mind
  • Apparent relative coherence of the world on all levels
  • Increase in the perceived gap between natural and artificial intelligence
  • However, rather than using this evidence as an excuse to turn toward mystical holism, I would suggest a turning toward a mathematical holism in our endeavor to shed additional light on the mystery of the mind.

In this regard it is noteworthy that the unification in math and physics is being made through the use of principles that have holographic implications.  That the foundations of mind and world appear holographic indicates that the explanation of the unity is built into its form, as we should expect.
