Quantum Duality
.
A step in the right direction

When the intellectual promise of scientific materialism had worn thin for me, it was initially the quantum domain that held out the hope of a step beyond those confines.  All the laws of physics were expected to operate within the quantum domain.  It seemed a small step to suppose that the laws of psychology could operate in the same domain.  That domain could be the modern equivalent of the Platonic realm of ideas.  In fact, the mind itself probably dwelt behind the vale of quantum ‘randomness.’  It was the quantum that solved the Cartesian puzzle concerning the connection between mind and brain.

After several more years of resisting the obvious, what I eventually learned was that once you let the mind get its foot back in the door of scientific reality it will inevitably take over the whole ‘hood.  Once we ascribe an independent existence to the mental realm, the only thing left of matter are all those scientific abstractions which may as well be taken back into the minds from which they sprang.  This is how the rug is pulled from under the scientific world-view.  This is how our world is turned inside out.  It just took a little quantum oil to grease the skids.  To convert a significant portion of the scientific community it will take some striking developments in the quantum arena to prime this metaphysical pump.  That is what I wish to facilitate.  With the economic possibilities attached to quantum computing, it may also be a question of putting money where the mouth is.
